My other blog:

What Women Write--a collaboration with me and 5 other fabulous women writers.

A Writer's Job Description

  • Write!
  • Research
  • Study your craft--attend workshops, read (see below), practice!
  • Join a writers’ organization and/or critique group (Writers’ League of Texas is a good place to start!)
  • Become part of a writing community (Thanks What Women Write partners!)
  • Help a newbie writer
  • Read a variety of genres (okay, I need to work on this one)
  • Research agents and write a query AFTER you’ve written, revised, polished the book
  • Read industry blogs
  • Manage your time (too much blog reading?)
  • Take vacation and time off
  • Don't vent on Facebook, Twitter, or blogs your frustrations (or jealousy) about another writer

About Me

My photo
Joan Mora
An avid traveler, Joan Mora moved to Texas in 2005 with her husband and son. Instead of driving a moving van west, they set off the other way around—in planes, trains and boats through nine countries in Europe and Asia. Recently she and her photographer husband journeyed for five weeks through western U.S. They are always ready to pack their bags in search of a great story. With five other writers, Joan launched What Women Write (http://whatwomenwritetx.blogspot.com), a blog featuring authors, book reviews and literary musings. She also regularly blogs at: www.whatwomenwritetx.blogspot.com.
